2018 Albin Owners Northeast Rendezvous - Mystic-July 20-22

Ahoy, Chris and Diane here on Midnight Rambler…

Happy Thanksgiving, Albin owners! We hope that everyone had a terrific turkey-day…it wasn’t as fun as boating, though.

First, we want to thank Annette and Dave on Wine Down for hosting a fabulous 2017 Northeast Albin Owners Rendezvous. It was great to meet a lot of new Albin owners and to visit with old friends, and to see some new and different boats after not attending for a couple of years. The food was great, the fireworks were spectacular, but, of course, the company was outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed the late-night Albin chatter and grog. Having the event in New London during Sailfest was an additional highlight of the event…as well as our friend falling off the dock while securing his boat.

With all that said, the banner has been passed along to us (it has been sitting on my desk for the past several months) to host the 12th Annual Northeast Rendezvous, so it’s time to start the discussion. We would like to host the event in Mystic, CT at the Brewer’s Marina. Brewer’s has a pool and a grilling area for us to set up our Saturday evening event. It’s a short dingy ride or walk to quaint, downtown Mystic with interesting shops, restaurants, and ice cream! Plus, if there’s interest, we could organize a private tour of Mystic Seaport museum. Other things that we think might be fun would be a dinghy scavenger hunt or a boating equipment Yankee swap.

We hope that it’s early enough in everyone’s 2018 calendar planning to pick from one of two dates: July 20-22 or July 27-29. Please send us your thoughts and ideas.

We wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season!

Brewer's in Mystic is a great choice. I like to be right in the old village but waiting for the draw bridges is annoying. July 21 is out for me. That is our biggest annual club event. The next weekend might work.
Thanks for checking and for taking the lead on this.

Being south of the bridges is definitely convenient. And it's still an easy walk or perfect dinghy ride to town. Tenacious and crew were next door at Gwenmor this Labor Day weekend spending time with Jay & Deb on Attitude Adjustment. I snapped this shot of Brewers as we passed it pulling out just after sunrise to enjoy a stiff 25 knot head wind all the way back to Long Island...

Chris/Diane,
Assuming we will be in port, we would attend from our slip at Gwenmor which is within talking distance from the back side of Brewer's, which is usually where they put the transiet boats.
I can also most likely get "Sea Turtle" and the new owners of the 28 with the CAT engine (will probably have a new name) since they are both at my marina.

Hey all,

Funny. Kat and I stopped off at the Seaport Store this afternoon on a whim and we both said “Mystic would be a great place for a rendezvous. I wonder where this year’s is.”

So, having been a bad AOG member I logged on a few minutes ago for the first time in ages and boom! Mystic!

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon! Spring is coming! This snow is just a test of our boating resolve. 🙂

Hello, Northeast Albin Owners!

We are excited that so many of you are planning to make the trip to Mystic for this year’s Northeast Rendezvous. The confirmed dates for this year’s gathering will be from Friday, July 20 through Sunday, July 21, 2018 at the Brewer Yacht Yard at Mystic: https://www.byy.com/marinas/brewer-yach ... mystic-ct/.

The office manager, Sue Gilot, as assured us that she will have room for all of us and try to keep us all together on the same dock. To make reservations, she recommended going directly to Dockwa.com online at https://dockwa.com/explore/destination/ ... -at-mystic. When registering for the slip, be sure to indicate that you are with the 2018 Albin Owners Rendezvous in the Special Request section (it’s on the payment page toward the end of completing the form). Then upon making your reservations, please post here or send us a PM.

Once the winter weather is finally over (no more snow!), we will start finalizing the weekend plans.

Chris and Diane, MR4
