Fishing with a 25

Post by Anonymoustoo »

Does anyone do much fishing with an albin 25. Looks like it would be a little tough for down rigger fishing. Is the aft cabin roof strong enough to mount Scotty downriggers on, and how about playing fish with a hardtop? What about a place to put a fish tub so the bloody mess is somewhat contained. We are on Van isle so mostly salmon fishing. Any info greatly appreciated.

I picked up an Albin 25 last August. The previous owner had downriggers mounted on the aft cabin. I upgraded to Scottys and had aluminum brackets made to mount the downriggers on each side just forward of the aft cabin. I have a large ice chest on the port side bench that stores in the aft cabin. Netting is a little cumbersome, but time will perfect that. The canopy has to come off to effectively fish. It isn’t perfect, but it works.
