Northstar DGPS 941X

We are getting power, hear the beep, then the screen displays a dotted line and nothing else. Any suggestions on trouble shooting? Unit is original to our 1998 28TE

We bought Steel Hers (99' 28 TE) and brought her back from Annapolis June 1st to Southport, NC. It was a 1 owner boat and all he ever did was navigate the Chesapeake Bay. When we left Portsmouth heading south the GPS just stopped working as he had no chips beyond the Bay. When I called Northstar they said I'd have to send the unit in and then buy a new chip, to the tune of about $600. As a result, we replaced the entire unit w/a Standard Horizon CP390i GPS/Chartplotter and couldn't be more pleased.

Am really happy I was forced into this as the detail in the color screen presentation is fantastic, the features are more than I have learned yet, and the internal antenna is all that's needed. I would give serious consideration to upgrading now. Good Luck with the decision.

I have to agree with Chris and Dale. Your electronics have seen a lot of elements over the years. The season is almost over and the boat show specials will be here soon.
