ICOM M-36

Post by Old School »

Looks like time for a new hand Held VHF. Even a new battery for my old M-11 is enough to warrant a new radio.

Abybody have any opinions on the ICOM M-36? I heard the M-34's were good.

Thanks

The one thing I have learned is crucial with handhelds is that they float.

The ICOM 36 floats, and its a great radio. It's about $90 more than the Standard Horizon HX290 which also floats and also seems to be a good radio. ICOM has exceptionally loud and clear reception and speaker.

We received a Cobra handheld as a gift. I forget the model but it's waterproof, floats, can be "burped" to clear the water from the speaker. It has been a good radio for the first year so far and I would recommend it.
