If you do run down the St Lawrence next year, we’ve got a dock for you to overnight on in the Kring Point area :<)
Tom,

Duly noted, thanks. Pretty area, but we may well do the Rideau Canal after stopping at Gananoque to visit Stephen Duggan, aka 'sunsetrider' & doubling back to Kingston. But we'll see. All in preliminary TBD phase at this point. What boat if any do you have now?

Right now, a Sport Nautique, a '47 Chris Craft Rocket, a few tin kickers, a series 1 O'day Daysailer, and an International Finn -- but nothing currently with any berths. We've lived here on this water our whole lives, and boats have always been a big part of it. Sailboats, powerboats, canoes, kayaks, whatever gets us on the water. :D

My boat might have qualified as the proverbial "borderline basket case" when I started. It didn't have that kind of extensive damage to the keel or rudder though, and that is why I moved forward with it.

I've basically addressed every system or will have by the time I'm done. Modern Mitsubishi engine, rebuilt Hurth gear, new... well, just about everything, including windows. Actually, the short list would be what is original!

What stayed original:
Hull and deck (gelcoat in great shape)
Most exterior hardware (mostly stainless)
Rudder and steering gear (had to keep the classic Albin wheel!)
Engine controls (but added new cables)
Fuel tank (but had the internal baffle rewelded)
Windshield (new weather seal, of course)
Some interior woodwork

Seriously, that's it!

But it's a "new" Albin 25 now. Starting with a good canvas, all it takes is money, time, sweat and busted knuckles. Ask me how I know.

The Craigslist boat looks like a blank canvas with a couple of rips in it. Rather unfortunate.

(Apologies to John for mentioning the "C" word. :) )

Anything is fixable given a budget and some energy to accomplish it. To me the worst part is the rudder. Not the end of the world but not good. As far as the running gear goes, I wouldn’t fool with it even though it runs. I’d have a new beta in it as I see that as just a excuse to go all new! Lol

I am doing a complete rebuild of an a25, inside and out. The engine was toast. I will be re-powering with a 40hp etec outboard. I will have an intact rudder, a nice looking shaft and a fine looking prop available for the saving of the damaged A25 discussed herein if interested.
