A25 Aft Cabin Mattress cover or refresh?

Post by OldDemps »

Does anyone have a supplier for recovering the (OEM?) aft cabin mattresses on A25?

The foam itself is good, the brown fabric covering is ugly.

I'll only use the aft cabin bedding rarely so don't want to spend a lot on complete custom replacement.

Measurements are approximately 24"w X 75" long x 4" deep (RV or day bed size).

I would prefer to encase the mattress completely rather then fitted sheet Etc

THANKS

Most upholstery shops could duplicate that. We added 2” of memory foam (from Home Depot) in top of our original foam and it made them real comfy

Consider replacing the long cushion with two half length cushions. You can re-use the existing foam. Having two shorter cushions makes it easy to access the aft lockers under the bunks.

One thought on split cushions: we have them in ourF-24. My butt falls into the split. If you split them don’t put the split where your butt lands.

I split mine along the line of the locker lid and have not had a problem. I sleep in the aft cabin as the bunk is slightly longer than the one in the main cabin.

Which way? We now have that all set up for Costco to port and West Maroon to starboard...and line drying hanging in the middle. Am trying to come up with simple arrangement in pilot cabin for making up a bed.

I'm sure there's upholstery shops that will re-cover them, especially shops that cater to the antique car/hot rod trade. Don't expect to be cheap. A lot of good upholstery fabrics run $30 to $40+ a yard. We like making the forward cabin settees into double V berth & sleeping there, using the aft cabin for storage. The POs used sleep in the aft cabin but we prefer the forward cabin. We roll bedding up toward the bow during the day & roll it out at night.

You can tell a 1970s boat by the plaid Hurculon cushions.
