Air conditioning an A27 FC

Post by Randall »

We have a hardtop on our ‘86 FC made from 3/8 marine plywood. Question is for anyone who may have mounted an r.v. style dometic unit on

top of the plywood. My concerns are vibration, noise, and cooling ability based on using my vinyl enclosure. I probably should not mention that we live in Florida. ( I can hear the laughter already.)
I currently use a portable unit for the forward cabin which rolls into companionway and vents into nearby drain and is shrouded with canvas to reduce air leakage. I’ll send photos if I can manage softwear.

Thanks. Randall

You might want to PM "Bearkeley" with your question.

Their boat "Mary Jo" is a modified A27 FC and is pretty similar to what you described. The salon even has vinyl windows. Mary Jo visited the FL Keys so there is experience with the climate too.

Here's Mary Jo...
