When going gets tough...

Post by DesertAlbin736 »

....the tough go boating.

Just back form an overnight anchored out in our favorite cove on Lake Pleasant, practicing our own form of "social distancing". Usually this time of year we get together with friends & fellow club members for "raft ups", but all such events have been cancelled for the duration. We're all of "that age" & some have conditions that could put them at risk, so we did our own "solo raft up" & enjoyed perfect weather, upper 60s to low 70s, light wind, calm night at anchor. The AZ Sonoran Desert is in bloom after a series of recent rains over the past couple weeks, The lake is pumped up over fall & winter with water from Lake Havasu via the Central Arizona Canal system, of which Lake Pleasant serves as a buffer storage reservoir. That plus seasonal rains means the lake is brim full at maximum level, no "bathtub ring" visible.

Beautiful! Here in SoCal we're seeing something that hasn't happened in a long time. Because of the shutdown/lockdown the air in the LA basin is so much clearer than normal.

Tides are good in a couple weeks. I hope to get back in the water if only for a few days. I still have more winter work to do, but hey, this winter is stretching out!
