MAZBOOT in the water and new home port

Post by DCatSea »

Launched on Wednesday, stewed alongside until today at 1200, then moved to Shipwright Harbor, Deale, MD. Backed into the slip in 12-15 mph winds from stbd beam and astern, and didn't make a complete pig's breakfast of it - YAY!

Here she is prior to launch, and swimming; double click to see properly.

Wow! Congratulations -- she looks shipshape and Bristol Fashion.

We're hoping to splash ours by July, still lots of work to do.

Thanks. Same here ref. work to do. But that’s the joy of old boats; they are hard taskmistresses. 😀
Good luck with your splash.

Great work! And great photos, too! I've never thought the A-27 could quite match the A-25 for aesthetic quality of lines, until seeing your last pic. Great shot; lovely!

Ditto all the above comments! Would be nice to have an opening center section of the windshield for extra ventilation. Now it's time to celebrate by heading down to Solomons & up St Leonard Creek to Vera's Beach Club (check & see if/when they're open, usually Thursday-Sunday in normal times). Order up a dozen steamed crabs & feast. It's about +/-35 NM from Deale down to Solomons, & after an overnight in Solomons it's an easy run up St. Leonard Creek. Vera's has guest docks or you can anchor out if you bring a dinghy.

See if that other A27 still docks there.

Ah Ha! But they do open in the middle, and provide glorious through-breeze. Also, the canvas cover has a zipped section so we can be shaded and breezy.
AND - Vera’s is defo on the list.
Cheers

Looking great! I recall the first time we met...you really made backing up into a slip look easy! Hope to get Mary Jo in the water next month!

Hi Bearkley - I remember it well, and so pleased you joined the A27 club. My backing in that time was pure fluke, but the slip at the new home port (Shipwright Harbor) is a stbd side approach and reversing in has been much easier (slip is bigger too).

Thanks Rich - you too. Enjoy those trips to the Needles fishing ground and beyond.

DCatSea, looks great! Let me know if you do head to the Patuxent River. Would enjoy comparing notes with another A27.

That would be real nice. There are 3 A27s in Rockhall Creek, that I know of - Mazboot, Dancer and Pegasus. Having one in The Pax makes a trip up past Solomons a good idea. I'll PM you.
