Is this original? Any idea what it may have had printed on it?

Finally just now got a moment to pull that plate off and look at the other side. I’ve attached two pictures but it seems it did indeed say something about the battery.
Maybe I’ll polish it up and engrave something new onto it?

I think I have it:

VARNING! BRYT EJ BATTERIKRETSEN NÄR MOTORN ÄR IGÅNG

WARNING! DON'T BREAK THE BATTERY CIRCUIT WHEN THE MOTOR IS RUNNING

Sometimes, being OCD is quite irritating

Well I thought mine was more legible but its not, in several other places on my boat including my engine owners manual they state the same thing, common VP statement I guess.

Bob it has a "DO NOT" and not a "DON"T" just to be picky :D

That is pretty legible. The English version I posted above was just a Google Translate version of the Swedish. So "bryt" is break and "ej" is a negative. In old English they might well have said "break not the battery circuit".

If they had invented batteries then, that is.

"Sir, I prithee, break not wind before my wife!"
"Forsooth, good sir, I knew not that she was first!"

First off, ssrig, I see your label's screw heads are not in proper Albin alignment. Please take care of that right away! Just kidding. I hear the Albin police will let you off with a warning since this is your first offense.

Regarding the "break not" phrase...

At work (Network Management) we have a common command to turn an interface on: "no shut".

Doh! You would figure Electrical Engineers could have come up with something better than that.

Would be cool to have a plate custom engraved with the Swedish version for the helm. That would start a conversation!
