Albin 21

Post by Bob Noodat »

Yes, that's right. They forgot to add the aft cabin!
I found this 1973 boat listed on a Dutch site.

6.3m x 2.3m x 0.70m.
Original 10hp 2cylinder Albin 022 gasoline inboard.
60 litre fuel tank.

Nice looking piece of kit, especially the cockpit.
Not to sure about the open plan head, but as Seinfeld once said "IT'S EUROPEAN!!" (Wait a minute - so am I)

I would think missing the aft cabin would be awful. It’s one of my favorite features of the 25

I think the large Sapele wood panel to the right in the picture is the opened head compartment door. It would most likely be closed (and less "European") when in use.

...unless you just wanted to show off and impress the crew.

If you want a cross between this and an A25, there is the A25 Fisherman.

All 25' of Albin but without the aft cabin.

This does look interesting. Must be a completely different hull and not just a shortened A25 hull.

Speaking of the Albin Fisherman, here is one tied up in Ilulissat harbour in Greenland. Must be tough little boats, judging from the company it keeps.

The red hulled ship behind the Albin looks like it has a porta potti on the aft deck...

Or a phone booth? But notice that the boat alongside it has the same type of structure. My guess, and it's no more than that, is that they are shrimpers and that a vat is inside the little huts, for boiling the shrimps immediately they are pulled from the nets.
