New Member - Albin 28 TE owner in Calif.

Post by Sisu22 »

Hi All, I just purchased a 1994 TE out of Maryland and am having it trucked into CA in the coming week or so. The boat is a fixer but had a solid hull survey and the engine does turn over (Cummins 6BTA 250). I've already learned a lot on the site lurking but looking forward to participating more as we go.

Welcome Joe, when we bought our boat it was a fixer as well. The good thing is you will know your boat inside and out. We had our boat trucked about 150 miles, I hate to think what cross country would cost.

Welcome Joe and hopefully see you around. Mine was a fixer as well and have had her for two years now. Hopefully we will see you around.

How convenient that she's Cummins powered and you're just up the road from Seaboard Marine in Oxnard. Be sure the exhaust is FULLY drained BEFORE they load the boat on the transport trailer.

Thanks all, the first thing I did when I was making an offer on the boat was go into Seaboard and get some advice. They are great.

Trucking... is looking at around 6,000 all in to go coast to coast.

Welcome and Congra's on the purchase. Sounds like a nice boat. The Cummins engines are hard to fine but my favorite. Have had two Alibins both with Yanmar 315 twins. Great engines but second to Cummins in my book although I also like the Volvo diesel. I looked at a 36 Express Trawler in Ventura a few years back. It was a good boat but at the time I was concerned about it's lack of use for a couple years.

Thank you. We are hopefully loading up tomorrow in Maryland and it will start is cross-country trek. Will start a new thread in the TE section I think, to track our progress. The boat took on some water about a year ago and has been sitting. Will need engine work all new upholstry, new electronics, and superstructure paint.

I just flew back to NY yesterday after spending several days out in your neck of the woods with the Seaboard crew. Here's a shot of us on the Aloha Spirit out of Channel Islands. Gotta love walking the commercial docks with Tony as he explains what engine and gears he put in nearly every boat!

Rob, what a great trip! I saw that photo on Facebook. Had no idea that you'd gotten involved with Tony beyond your forum involvement. Nice!
