Being from NJ you're probably able to hit the Chesapeake Rendezvous too.

I once made it from Lake Medeconk to Mystic, Ct in 12 hours in my old repowered Mainship that was a 12/13 knot cruiser...(of course I caught the currents the right way as in 18 kts thru the E River).
Essex is 2 hours closer so your time estimate is doable.
