Is this under-powered. Should it cruise at 18 kn approx.

I think more likely you would top out at 18. With almost 100 more hp (admittedly I have ac, genset, etc) I cruise at 18. There were a few made with the low 200hp motors and they are great boats. Just have to be aware of what your likely to get.

FWIW, our 250 tops out at 23 knots (2750 RPM) and we cruise in the 18 range at 2200 RPM.

Hmmm shows what I know. Learn something new every day. I was basing my numbers on an old listing, possible they had different gearing or a heavier boat!

She'll definitely be slower than a boat with a 300. Be diligent about not bringing too much weighty "stuff' aboard, keep the bottom clean, and it sounds like you could be ok speed wise.
