28TE - V-berth layout

Post by Nancy »

Southerncross,

I was looking at the photos in the ad for your boat - viewtopic.php?f=13&t=9988 - boat looks great, by the way - and I have a question about the v-berth layout (img_5642.jpg - last one in your second post).

Was the boat delivered with the back rests laid out like that, i.e so that the V cushions are almost fully accessible at all times? On our boat, and on most photos I've seen, the fiberglass shelf toward the bow is much wider and extends further aft than on your boat. We have to lift and fasten three cushions to fully access the V cushions. Photos of our layout are below. I'm curious about yours.

Good eye Nancy, I tend to scroll through those "non-important" pics quickly to get to the mechanicals and such :D

Good eye on both of your parts!
We removed shelf and had cushions fabricated to fit area involved, to allow for more room.
As we used this space for our berth we didn’t need to have additional storage and have the cushion backs raised.
We slept with our heads at the bow, allowed for easy in and out more room for the Captain.

Looks comfy.
How many inches did you gain and how was the nuts and bolts of removing the shelf area? Cutting fiberglass, or unscrewing fasteners?
