Baitwell pump

Post by Yearwood »

The baitwell pump on our 28' TE is an Attwood 500 (500gph supposedly) and has been replaced once and now has failed again. In researching (and formerly testing) its characteristics I find that capacity falls off rapidly with discharge head and I plan to replace it with a better unit. Any recommendations?

Thanks

My boat came with a Jabsco pump to serve the bait well and the wash down hose. It is expensive and if I had it to do from scratch I would use the Rule type C pump that mounts on the thru hull and has an outlet to feed the Jabsco. That way the cheaper pump with the easily replaceable cartridge motor could run continuously and the Jabsco could be used only when needed for wash down. If you want a dedicated bait well pump Rule has that too in the type C. http://www.go2marine.com/product.do?no=153629F
