Fuel Capacity Albin 35 TE

Post by DKramer »

I have a wonderful blue hull Albin 35 TE with Twin Cummins TBA 370 hp TBA 5.9 engines. I am trying to figure out the fuel capacity (how much fuel my tanks hold). I would like to determine this before I head out on a long range west coast Tuna trip.

Dose anyone know if it is a standard tank in all Albin 35 TEs? and if so, what is the capacity?

Sonny IV has three 125 gallon tanks plumbed together to give 375 gallons total. She fills from either side and draws/returns fuel from the center tank only. The fuel sender is also mounted to the center tank. You MAY be able to see the capacity plate on yours at the top rear of the tanks.

Being an Albin NOTHING is standardized, but I'd bet yours tanks are the same.

OK, I can see the center tank capacity sticker on the center tank and it says "Capacity 125 gallons" I am unable to see the top of the other tanks. I think I may have to measure the dimensions and do a little math to confirm.

The outboard tanks are slightly smaller than the center tank in order to conform to the hull.
Total capacity is approx 360. The Albin specs say 369.

Pickups are pretty low. Port being the lowest based on which racor picks up the majority:)
I ran ours down to 20 gal prior to pulling the tanks.

Probably have pics somewhere

I have a 2004 35' tie and the fuel capacity on that is 369 gallons spread between three tanks.

I just talked to Luther’s Welding shop in RI (most probably the original manufacturer) as I am heading to survey this week on a 35TE. Jennifer was very helpful, “most likely a single 125 gal with 2) 113gal side tanks “ a little different then everything else I have read but could be a “Useable” number. With your hull number they can confirm exactly what they installed!!
Very impressive for a job done in 2002 (in my case)!!!
Additionally, she expected they would have been made out of 3/8” thick material, I didn’t have my hull # when I called.
I will when I call back!!
