31 TE with single Cummins

Anyone out there with a 31 with single Cummins that can share performance?

Cruise with how my 31TE is loaded with a 24 X 24 prop and a single Cummins QSC 8.3 500hp electronic engine is 13.5 to 18 kts at 1 gallon per knot no matter how you slice it. Top speed is 23 knots and still at 1 gallon per knot.

Fuel burn per knot drops significantly when at troll or up to about 10 knots. Striper troll of 3 +/- knots is .75 to 1 gph per hour Cocktail cruise of 6 to 7 knots is in the 3.5 +/- gph range. Averaged out over the season about 6+ gallons per hour.

Curious of single Cummins

I have a 2000 31 TE with a single Cummins 6cta8.3m3 450hp diamond.

When fully loaded, I cruise at 2400 rpms and around 16 knots.

WOT is 2650 rpms and around 18-19 knots.

When at cruise I think I am burning around 16- 18 gph.

My prop size is 24-22 with a 3 Cup.

Hope that helps. If anyone has advise on how to increase speed or performance, I am all ears.

That seems like it would be remarkable efficiency. I'm burning about 11 GPH at 16 knots in my 28.

Note, I said average! If I was at home I could post the the stats on this post. If I ran at cruise speed all the time It would probably be about 12-14 gph. When I can get to my computer I will post my records for the last 4 years.

OK, Georgian Bay has finally warmed enough to allow the completion of the sale of Ruddy duck to
yours truly. Just completed the 350 statute mile cruise from there to Suttons Bay, Mi. We have the Cummins 370B and cruise at 2400 rpm yields 15-16 mph. WOT is 3000 rpms. Seems to be about 10 gals per hour. Hope to see more precise measurements soon and hope to find more 28 TEs in NW MI.
Very strong boat. In some 55 years of boating I've never owned a boat to exceed 7 knots--this is a whole new kind of experience for me, BTW I have a good condition Genco winter cover with comlete framing and 4 jackstands for $900.
