Albin 31TE sales brochure/spec sheet

Post by ESpiegel »

Hello,
I currently have a Grady White 265 Express and thinking of purchasing a 2009 Albin 31 TE with a single 450 Cummins. this particular boat only has 170 hours and has been on the hard for quite a while.
I cannot find a list of standard features of the Albin 31 TE anywhere. I was curios if the genset was a standard item, or an option.
I've ready lots of posts concerning single vs twins, anything else to be concerned about?
TIA,
Eric

Eric -

I looked briefly at this boat back in August, it was in ROUGH shape. I hope they've cleaned it up since then. The boat was torn apart because they were replacing the Genset, the inside was filthy from windows being left open. One thing to note, this particular boat was made after Albin sold the molds to another builder so I'm not sure even if you found a list if it would apply.

thanks for your reply. I haven't been in it yet. Any idea who the builder was?
Its been up at Defiance Marine for a long time (years i think). it was in rough shape because it was just dirty, or did you see damage? Anything particular about this boat that you think I should investigate? they tell me that the seller (its on consignment) is not motivated, and they are asking 160k.
Thanks,
Eric

Eric –

I don’t remember who actually built the boat but I remember asking Defiance Marine this question and they had the answer. Honestly, I only spent about 5 minutes on the boat and I didn’t dig deep to see the extent of the maintenance. I was mostly frustrated as Defiance knew I was coming out to see the boat and they didn’t bother to tell me the condition of the boat. I was expecting a boat in “for sale” shape. Instead, it was deep into repair and filthy.

Don’t let my disappointment keep you from going to see the boat… Bremerton is a short hop from Seabeck. If you do make the trip, be sure to ask Defiance about the condition of the boat so you can properly set your expectations.

I was also considering the boat and having it shipped to NE.

4 months ago they said they had a 150k offer

I moved on and bought Seaquel. I couldn’t be happier

Get the Hull ID number from the broker. The first three letters will identify the builder. If you need help, post it here and we'll help you out.,

Eric, Its is interesting that you are considering going from a GW 26 Express to a 31 TE, as I am considering going from a GW 33 Express to a 35 TE. I wonder if its for similar reasons.

If you do go and see it, find out what make and model the helm seat is. See if it swivels from the front to face the sofa.

I believe the engine is a 480 HP model, unlike any that came before,

I’ve put in an offer and am waiting on acceptance or a counter.
The HIN is OPAA1100J808. I believe the builder was Bladen Composites/ Shamrock.
I am concerned on engine and trans status. I’m having a survey done and a mechanical once its waterborne.
The engine compartment filled with rainwater a while back and I think submerged the tranny. Currently waiting for them to launch and prepare for sea trials.
Seems to be kind of a unicorn. Sticker on side of cabin says Albin 32, CG documentation lists it as a 31. It has the Cummins 480 electronic and I believe a ZF transmission.

Any idea how the engine compartment filled with rain water so that can be avoided in the future? That's a lot of rain...

Fingers are crossed for ya, please keep us all posted!

According to the dealer, they were replacing the generator and had disconnected the rear port deck drain, which allowed rain to drain to the bilge. It appears that they didn’t notice it for a while and it sat with the center bilge pocket full of water. They had to replace the starter due to water damage so far. They are currently working on getting it ready to start..
