Converting Flush Deck to L Settee?

Post by Captain Starbucks »

Hi all,

I may be moving into an A28 in the next year or so. I can afford to buy an L-settee boat, my problem is that they never come up for sale! I'd like to be able to sell my current boat and buy in the same fall/winter.

The prices on a standard flush deck are reasonable. Not so much on the L-settee models. And the standard Flush Deck's are always available. Would it be feasible to convert a standard FD? Sure, everything is possible with enough money, just wondering if there are any floor hatches or structural problems that would eliminate this? If this is possible, could anyone throw out a ballpark estimate? I would think $10-12k would get you in the ball park. Even so, much less than a production L-settee.

Thanks for entertaining the idea.

You would need to modify the deck and hatches if you wanted the same dimensions as the Newport for the settee.

As far as budget, it is a boat so usually at least 2x what you expect it to be should be budgeted:)
