Shifter cable bracket, 28TE, Yanmar 6LP-STE

Post by Norseman »

Called Mack Boring and other Yanmar dealers this afternoon.
Mack don’t sell down South, they passed me on to a Yanmar place in Georgia, they again said to call somebody in Florida, etc.
In all of these calls and BS I got a part number, but nobody could give me a picture or drawing of the part. (To make sure it is the same piece I need)
On the 28TE it is on the starboard side of the engine and forward:
(Smack in the middle of this picture)
Anybody replaced this $13 part? I can remove it and clean up, paint etc to to remove corrosion, but much easier if this part on our 28TEs actually has a Yanmar part number:

Might be a hurth part as that looks to me your gear shift/trolling valve bracket. Can’t really see properly as I’m trying to look at it on my phone.

True...
This is what I am trying to find out: Yanmar part or Hurth part Nr?
It is however bolted on to the Yanmar engine block with two 10 mm bolts, (a guess for now) hence I was thinking it was a Yanmar part.

No, it's not bolted to the engine, it's bolted to the tranny.

Yes, you are correct.
Got it off today and cleaned up, rust was surface only, will paint and reuse.
There is a part number on it, looks like Mach 034.
