Deck hatch liners

Post by ESpiegel »

I’m constantly looking thru the internet at all of the Albin 31TE pics I can find to see what mine is missing, or how stuff should be. It’s a long list.

I found these pics on a sale post for a 2002 31TE that had hatch liners. Do any of you have these on yours? Are they a custom job, or can they be bought somewhere?

The hatch liners/boxes were custom to Albin. I have the center and port side deck hatches, but not the starboard as that was probably never delivered as the Vacuflush tank would prohibit installation.

On a side note, I'm missing the one for the settee bench in the pilothouse that I've seen on other 31's. The original owner of my boat told me that he never got one when delivered as new .. having that box would be pretty nice.

I sure would like to know who the supplier was!

My 31 has them in 3 deck hatches...not sure if they are available anywhere...

Pitou looks like we posted at the same time....I have a Vac flush on Starboard rear below deck with a liner....and the one Port side under bench is very useful....

Maybe next winter I can sweet talk a local Albin owner to let me borrow them so I can make fiberglass copies??

I have them on all three deck hatches and the engine hatch. I find the ones on the deck hatches tend to hold water when it rains. When you open the hatch the water runs out of them. I have thought of doing away with them for this reason, but hate to part with the original equipment. Wonder how much they really deaden the sound?

I would be interested in buying yours if your thinking of getting rid of them. I think I have the only 32TE, and possibly the last Albin ever built and mine doesn’t have them.

Sorry I am not interested in selling them. I may try to seal them so they don’t soak up the water.

Do you have insulation under your hatches? The hatches on the later boats do not have insulation, therefore remain dry. Any water runs through the hatch gutter and away. My liners stay dry inside.

My 2004 31 does not have any insulation on the lids, no issues with the liners filling with water...

My liners were missing on our 28', but the hatches are still usable.

I have removed the insulation as I had the same issue with holding water, didn’t notice any increase in sound, no water in boxes. Sorry I tossed the out .

One down, 3 more to go. A buddy has a 31TE with all the drop in hatch liners. I have another buddy with an awesome machine shop and lots of time on his hands. Perfect!
First one we made out of stainless. Super stout and was able to go 16" deep under the settee.
The other three for the deck area will be made of aluminum.

My buddy just completed my center hatch liner for me. This one’s aluminum and is much lighter than the SS one under the settee. He did an awesome job, and I’m looking forward to using it. 2 more hatch liners to go.
