Vibration and louder drivetrain noise after cutting rope with prop

Post by Bob051475 »

Hi at the end of the season last year when I was docking at night one of my bow line fell in the water and I caught it with the prop it cut the line and a small piece got wrap around the prop ,I had someone dive and cut out the rope , the next time I took the boat out I noticed the transmission noise or drivetrain noise seemed to be louder like a howling or grinding sound
I only used the boat one day the had the boat hauled out for the season
I just put the boat in the water and went out and the noise got a lot worse and have a vibration now
Has anyone got any ideas what could be wrong
The Boat is a 1993 28TE with a Hurth Transmision and Cummins Motor
Thanks
Bobby

Cutlass bearing or transmission got damaged?
I would pull the boat back out and change the bearing, unless you see one of the blades bent out of shape...?
