Post by go.boating »

I have a 2007 35te with twin Cummins 380hp motors

i cant go slow, no wake is not possible. its a challenge going thru canals and in close quarters.

How do you do it?

i'm in out in out in out of gear. but its a pain.

is trolling valves the only answer??

It's not only an issue with twins, but can be with the single screw too. My clutch speed with a single Cummins QSC 500 is 6 knots. With my 28TE with a single Cummins 6BTA 370 it was 6.5 knots. I did not have issue with wake, but with speed in no wake / 5 knot speed zones in still calm water. Throw a little tidal push into that scenarion and it was worse. I was always in and out of gear to not run up on to the stern of the boat ahead.

In both instances I installed trolling valves. If you have mechanical gears and shifters the expense isn't too bad, if electronic it will be pricey.

So you have QSB 380's ?

Your question would be better suite on the Seaboard Marine forum. https://www.sbmar.com/community/

Electronic common rail engines were just only introduced shortly before Albins were no longer manufactured. Some are out there but certainly not in any great number.
