Helm Wheel Size?

Post by Elizabeth Ann »

Does anyone know the standard size of the the helm wheel? Is it a 15" wheel? My father dislikes the wheel so a new wheel, the AOG burgee, and sirius satelite radio (so he can listen to Jimmy Buffet) are going to be his christmas gifts this year.

I'd measure the wheel myself, but the next time I go up North won't be till the holiday.

Is there anything else I need to know when replaing a wheel? This will be the first time I do so.

Cheers.

EA,
I was asking Santa (Sharon) to give me this for Christmas.
>>>>>>>>>Hi:

We have a mahogany wheel as an upgrade. The cost is: $329 plus shipping. Call 401/682-1600 and ask for me.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Elizabeth Ann and others interested in a nice replacement wheel:

This I believe is the mahogany wheel Andrew is talking about

Very nice! I've been eyeing it myself. I'm not sure what the exact size is though, but anything larger might be to big. I am not sure about the procedures to replacing the stock wheel, but I don't think it would be a major undertaking.

We have the upgraded wheel on our boat and it is absolutely beautiful and great to steer with. It's a shame I spend most of my time with the autopilot on and steer with a little plastic knob.

Thanks GeryGarcia!

Although I like it very much, it may be a bit too fancy for our boat. I sort of would feel bad grabing that with my fish slimed hands after a long day of fishing.

I was thinking more along the lines of this

EA

Looks nice! Is that wheel compatible with the current wheel mount? I've been
looking to upgrade also (in the future) but electronics upgrade is probably my next money drain!

Here is a website with a couple more options for wheels (just to be thorough):

Thanks again Gery. I didn't know Edson had so many wheels to choose from.

Yup! I called Albin today to order. They are on backorder. Andrew said it should be in before March.
