Installed my pantographs 2 weeks ago. Furball had a buddy make us these spacers out of Alum block. They worked out great!! I think John is doing his this weekend. We both have 2006 flush decks with the longer shafts. You will need the longer arm for the middle window.

Those look great! Not sure if aluminum would be my first choice in salt water, but they are exactly what I pictured I will need...

Has anyone installed these on a 27FC? Any problem areas I should look out for? Thanks. Jay

If the right grade of aluminum is used it should be fine...problem with starboard is sealants don't stick to it well, and you want a good seal there...I sealed the heck outta mine and still have a slight leak when hose tested...

As for an a27, shouldn't be any different than any other boat...

Okay, so I've decided to do a total wiper system overhaul...

I'm changing out all three AFI 1000's for Roca W12's, and then adding Roca 18-24" pantograph arms, Roca 22" blades, a Roca 3 motor control box (makes all three wipers work in sync, as well as control the washer pump), and a Roca 5 liter washer system. I love Roca motors because they are SO easy to adjust, and it can be done by removing a simple cover and not the entire motor like the AFI's. They're 2 speed and adjust from 40-110 degrees in whatever increment you want. Plus the Roca's are powerful enough to swing up to a 26" arm, and have WAY more torque than the AFI's they're replacing. If you look at AFI's compatibility chart you will see you aren't even supposed to use a pantograph arm with the AFI 1000's. They want you to go up to a AFI 1.5 as the minimum motor for pantographs. Can't wait to get them installed as I currently can't see anything with the current setup...

Question for those who have upgraded to Pantograph wiper arms: Have any of you had issues with your existing wiper motor? My boat is a 1999 with AFI motors for reference.

Thanks,

My centre afi motor gave up after 6 months - the teeth on the plastic gear failed probably as a result of fitting the wipers. Upgraded now to the latest motor

I'm just installing pantographic wiper arms on my '01 28TE engine box. The grooved female part fits over the AFI motor shaft no problem, but my question is how to mount the plate on the top of the other part of the arm. The large hole obviously fits right over the motor shaft under the "main" arm but do I have to drill and screw the small hole into the boat, like Jeremyvmd did above, or is there another part with a stud like Carl's photo in this thread?

You have to put the screw in like me and carl did. carl has the screw it's just longer cuz it's going into a spacer first. You need something to keep the plate from rotating...

I recently installed my port wiper with a pantographic arm The best part of this process is getting the old arm off. Thank the marine gods for a dremel tool. What a nightmare. The port side has to be adjusted, but that is a later project since I have it sealed up like Sweetwater.

My turn to wrestle with old and corroded wipers.
Got the Port one off today after an hour with a hacksaw and various other tools.
My dremmel tool only had sandpaper and was no help.
