Solar Cells on 32+2

Post by Albinflorida »

New install of 3 cells on a 32+2. They are reported to put out 14A MPS on a sunny day! All DC can be run off the cells with AMPS to spare.

Wish I had this on my mooring last year. Went away for a while and came back to 3 dead batteries.

Who makes the cells? Are you feeding just the house?

I have the same aluminum tower as you do, but mine is covered with a soft top. I'm wondering if you might know where I could buy a hard top for my tower.

TIA

Solar cells are a great idea. An acquaintance in Jamestown who has an Island Packet sailboat put a couple of solar cells on his boat and was able to keep his batteries charged and his refrigerator operating all summer while the boat was on a mooring in Narragansett Bay.

Steve: Re your soft top.
Note the bottom pictures of the thread below where we have mounted our panels on a soft top

The panels in the photos were mounted to a alluminum frame top with a soft cover over it. Not sure of the brand name, but I think all 3 trickle charge all the batts, except gen, on the boat.

My solar panel is mounted above a soft top on a custom enclosure. Hope this give you some ideas.
