Post by Farmer38 »

Hi,

I need help identifying this shaft seal. It doesn't look like a PSS.

Hmm on my phone, seems like photos are not uploading. I'll get on the computer tomorrow. Thanks.

You've got a Tides Marine shaft seal.

Good research with that video. As the video shows, place a backup seal in a carrier for future use. This is a huge savings in time, haulout fees, etc when changing out a lip seal. I have a spare for my Tides waiting on my shaft and at the ready!

I had succes. The old one was worn. It was a little stressful when the water started coming in, but I got it done. Hats off the the engineer that located the bottom screw at the very bottom... it's done and hope it stays dry. One more seal left on the shaft..

Cheers,
