Low speed on a 32plus2

Post by Ted903 »

We have a 350hp Cat Turbo with a four bladed prop. Can only get 16 knots instead of the 22 the boat manual says we should get. The bottom is clean. Does any one know what the pitch of the prop should be or what we should do to get the proper speed? Our e-mail is tgckac@yahoo.com
Thanks Ted

Is the engine achieving at least rated RPM at WOT? If not, that is the first challenge.

My 32+2 only gets 19 knots at WOT with the Yanmar 370. That is with full tanks and full water. I assume it would be better with less fuel. I had a Captain who ran the boat suggest a 5 blade prop. Has anyone tried a 5 blade prop, and if so what were the results??? What was the prop size???
