Newbie

Post by Longo »

Hello all -
We just purchased a Palm Beach 37 and although an avid skier i cannot wait until boating season begins. I have been enjoying the site which we joined prior to purchasing the boat just to find out some info on the boat - we made the plunge...now just waiting for the splash.

Happy New Year all and glad to be aboard.

John.

Good morning - i believe i was able to attached photos - still getting use to this site. Engines are Volvo TAMD40C’s which provide a reported cruising speed 10 to 14 knots. First boat with diesels, do not know much about them so hoping for the best.

Congrats & welcome aboard! That is an interesting looking boat & one Albin model not often seen. One thing with diesel vs gas, you don't have to run a blower to clear out fumes before starting. There's a reason why the Navy didn't put gas engines in conventional submarines. Generally speaking much more reliable I would think, and probably a bit more fuel efficient. But best not to let it run out of fuel or get low enough to get air in the lines though, otherwise you'd have to bleed the fuel system to get started again. Plus diesels will not tolerate dirty fuel, so maintaining fuel filters is a must.
