Yanmar / Cummins

Post by Pirate1 »

New to the forum

Re the 28TEs. Did the original buyer have a choice of engines. Was one engine preferred in a flush deck or wit the engine box.

Did Albin push one over the other. I come from a twin 454 carb boat

Considering a 28……..just getting confused on the 2 engines. Last diesel I had was a Detroit on a 34 Mainship iii……ugh!!

Flush deck so far as I know would have only been a yanmar. The Cummins I would imagine won’t fit and weight distribution will be all over the show. You may find a flush deck with a D6-310 Volvo in it but not much more. Engine box, Yanmar, Cummins or Peninsular in the main. The odd Perkins I’ve seen.

What are you looking for. Speed, economy or on a budget?

I’m glad I asked. I would think a reasonable economic sweet spot is more important than speed. I have been in the flush deck, like it, so I am scouting around to see a “box”. Thanks for your response

Blown Yanmar 375 diesel

Post by MeyrickP »

Sad, sad day!.

My Yanmar 375 diesel in my 2005 Albin 32+2 is blown.

i need either a repower or a rebuild. My homework iodate indicates only very expensive options. Any discussion would be appreciated.
