CB 35 dinghy size

Post by kpetry »

New member here! We are considering the purchase of an Albin 35 Command bridge. The current dinghy davit has a capacity of 700 lbs, and the present owner runs a very light dinghy/motor combo at around 200 lbs. We dearly love our Highfield 310 center console dinghy, and would like to continue to use it, but it weighs in at around 500+. Assuming that the davit will handle this extra weight, will the additional 300 lbs in the rear adversely affect the performance of the boat? I'm assuming that the trim tabs would be helpful to adjust for this?

That Highfield is worth figuring it out. And welcome to AOG.

If you're considering the A35...not sure I would be overly concerned about performance. And yes, the tabs ought to help.

Any step back from the Highfield, you will likely regret. Consider the 35CB as a platform for hauling your real (fun) boat. Best of both worlds.

Welcome aboard, kpetry!

Nice dinghy you have!

You'll want to think about how it will fit on/over the swim platform, whether it will impede access to the transom door, and whether you care. 🙂

Kpetry; Photos please! Or it never happened. I need to get some ideas on dinghy haulage, too.
