Cummins 250 vs 270

Post by Cfergu22 »

I’m under contract on a 1998 Albin 28TE with a Cummins 270hp 6BTA

Could someone please explain the difference between the 250 and 270 HP engines? I understand that the turbo cooling is the main difference between the 250 and 300+ engines. But I can’t find any good information on the 250 vs 270. It seems like the 250 is much more common.

Also, is there a good sight or book on understanding and maintaining the Soecific Cummins engines?

Thanks

Seaboard Marine is a great source to learn about your Cummins engine. I am sure they will have the answers…
