New Rudder Skeg

Post by Ed422 »

When I hauled my boat back in November, I found the rudder skeg (right name?) and a chunk of the keel had been knocked off, and a replacement rudder installed. I had a local metal worker fabricate a piece and finally installed it. More repairs underway.

Interesting solution. Looks good. What type of metal did you use? Does it need a zinc?

I wanted stainless. The metal guy made this one out of plain steel as a mock-up to test for fit. We decided to give it a year and see how it goes. So this one is powder coated steel. I’m kind of figuring it will be taken care of by the zinc on the rudder. Another thing that time will tell over this year.
