A Brave and Safe 2024 to all at AOG

Post by DCatSea »

Now that 2024 is off to a start, i would like to wish a Super Safe and Happy New Year to all AOGers.

Mazboot came out of the water on New Years Eve, and despite a fair amount of river running the past year looked in fine shape below the waterline. A few of the usual topside things to do during layup, but nothing too major (Famous Last words?).

Biggest issue of 2023 was losing the ability to STOP or go in reverse while navigating through the weekend mob of PWCs, SUPs, kayaks, 8-sculls and small sailboats in the Georgetown stretch of the river, but this was expertly overcome by skillful use of Idle slow and some great steering. (didn't even get my bullhorn out) 45 minutes later we kissed the T-head in Alexandria, where Dan (un-named A25) took a line and took a turn. The problem is now resolved for ever.

Don't forget to get your Vessel Safety Check for 2024. USCG and USPS will gladly do them for free.

Doug, Wish you and all others on here the same - Happy New Year! The boating is great here in Tennessee, I was out on New Years day and a couple of days just before Christmas. It's been a bit cool but a lot of sunshine and NO PWC's. I love these rivers. Ben

Happy New Year to you, too, Doug! Only 15 weeks until we take off the shrink wrap! Can't wait.

Sounds like the Red Sea is temporarily out of bounds for awhile for our recreational use . Oh well wasn’t heading that way anyways. Maybe they got the name or the color wrong ?
