Who has re-hosed their TE

Post by Nowhere Special »

I am in the process of re-hosing the below water line hoses on Aba Daba, per the recommendations of our surveyor. Has anyone else taken on this task?

Dave,
I haven't done it but I'm in the hose and fitting business. I may be able to answer or help get answers to your questions. I may also be able to recommend a hose shop near you that could help identify and replace as you go. What are you looking to do first?

I am at this time doing all of the cooling water hoses on the raw side of my 6LP. What hoses are you referring to?

John, I have been able to get all the hoses needed locally.

I have finished the saltwater wash down, (the clamp under the fuel tank was a PITA) Will finish the head intake and discharge to the tank this coming weekend and then move on to the seawater side of the cooling system. The intake for the A/C was done prior to our getting the boat.

RobS, are there any surprises when doing the sea water side of the cooling system?

Rob, not a single hose in the triple digit$ and you're complaining about costs? They ARE for a boat!

It was a "surprise", not a "complaint". If I had twin engines then I might have to complain

Carl,
Not unless absolutely necessary :D

As for the molded engine hoses, I wouldn't be much help on those. Most of the other hoses can be found at industrial hose shops usually at better prices than marine supply. Take a small section in so they can match it with something in stock and you could save some cash.
Good luck
