Spring has sprung....

Post by chiefrcd »

The feeshn' is on in the middle/lower bay.

Although folks have been catching Taugs all year and there are always the "catch and release" folks working on the Striped Bass, the Spring fishing season really starts when someone says "the Croakers are in!" Good reports of Croaker catch are coming in from shallow waters around the central and lower bay. Croakers are great eating and fun to catch. For those in that area of the bay, bloodworms and bloodworm flavored fish bites seem to be the bait of choice. Anchor or drift fishing both work as does catching off of piers. As the water warms look for other fish to start moving into the bay. Spades will be lurking on the rockpiles and wrecks come mid-May and Flounder are being caught near the mouth of the bay and around the islands of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.
