With the loss of John Collins (https://albinowners.com/aog/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14343), there are some housekeeping and hosting matters that need to be handled.
John had a close business associate – an IT professional - and friend who I’ve been in contact with. He assures me that the domain, site, and hosting are secure, but because of the current hosting arrangement, we will need to migrate this site to a new hosting provider.
A small group of us – RobS, DougSea, Jeremyvmd, and JKraft – has been brainstorming about the path forward, and we’ve quickly realized that none of us has the technical expertise to confidently migrate this site to a new hosting provider. If any of you have website administration expertise, we need your help.
There will also be a financial consideration. John was operating the site on a donate-what-you-can basis. Once we know the size of the database and shop for a new hosting provider, we’ll know what we’re up against.
The content here is too valuable to lose. Please help us make a plan and execute a smooth migration.

I am sorry to hear about John Collins death. The AOG site is a tribute to his steadfastness in service to fellow Albin owners. I have rudimentary tech skills at best and none in the area you need. I am willing to pay some sort of subscription to help keep AOG up and active.

Thank you so much, Ken, for your thoughtful words about John and your offer of financial help. Once we understand the scope of the project, I will post additional information.

Nancy, thanks for the update. Such sad news about John. I unfortunately do not have the tech experience to lend a hand. Willing to donate to keep this site alive. If its costly to pay someone to move this sites content to an easier to maintain server, maybe we could do a fund raiser or 50/50 at the Chesapeake Rendezvous. I'll raise some fundraising ideas through JB if needed.

How is it being hosted currently? On a local server (I have done this before) or is it in the cloud like amazon servers? I will reach out to who helped me years ago set up my wifes old travel business and our companies site. We currently have migrated to Go Daddy and I update the site as I can. You can email details directly to mike@pacificwestcontrols.com

Hey Y'all from Texas,
Although I am a new addition to the group, I understand the value of the information contained in this site. I am most definitely willing to donate to "the cause" to keep this info available to all. As folks age out and move on, the torch will be passed to individuals like myself and we will need this info to keep these amazing little vessels happily chugging along. Count me in.

Hello Nancy,
I've been absent since the early pandemic days, as my wife took ill. She is doing better now, and I've picked up where I've left off on my Albin 25, Carolina Wren.
I am a developer, and have built plenty of websites, including Ecommerce sites, non-profits, private business applications, mobile apps, etc. Please PM me and we can connect over the phone or Zoom to get this migration done. Of course, my work will be free of charge. I speak the language and have the skills. As long as we have access to the passwords, I can take you through the entire process and minimize downtime.
I've never run a forum before, so as far as maintaining the forum, I'm not going to promise to be the best person, but I'll help when and where I can after the migration.
Jason

Jason thanks for stepping up. The PPH format is pretty easy last time I spun one up. I just don't have the time now days unfortunately to migrate all the great knowledge here...
