Cabo San Lucas Marlin from the 28TE

Post by Mntry_Goodson »

I just noticed the fishing category and really enjoyed seeing the photos and comments!

Here are some photos of a few of the striped marlin caught when I had my 28TE in Baja California's Cabo San Lucas harbor the year before last.

WOW! That's a fish. It must have been some job hauling it on board. I guess you trailered down to Mexico. Otherwise, that's a real long cruise.

Oh wow! That is seriously impressive! Even I could get interested in fishing if that's what we were fishing for.

Thank you for the kind comments; the biggest striped marlin was around 165 pounds and took an hour and a half on 60# test. This while chasing it with the boat when 400 yards of line was running short!

The boat was trailered from Monterey to San Diego then piloted with a brother the 700 miles to Cabo over a couple of weeks. We kept the Terry Lee II in Cabo San Lucas over the winter learning how to catch marlin; which was tougher than I thought. Come Spring time, we spent two months soaking up the amazing waters of the Sea of Cortez. With mixed emotion about the trip ending we finally put it back on the trailer in San Felipe, Mx; just below where the Colorado River comes in.

Good news is we're going back to the Sea of Cortez for two months in March!

I would love to get mine down there but it's a long way from the Bay Area!
