Hull # Placard

Post by Key2Cay »

Researching Albin 36's I came across a boat (VICKIE A) that had a small brass placard at the upper left corner of the lower helm with its hull number. I have been working on recreating it for my boat at some point. Does anyone have one on their boat? If so, I would appreciate the dimensions and a better photo.

Mine doesn't have one. Given the hull number I wonder if it is something started later in the run. Mine is a 78. I would be interested in one myself. What are you making it out of?

I was hoping to make it out of brass with a black overlay.

I finally got around to having my placard made through a company called Signomatic.com (a Swedish company). I created an image from a PowerPoint rendering I made to best recreate the one I had found researching Albin 36s. It is printed on a small brass plate (2.4" x 1.2"). I have had numerous other small placards made from this company as well.

Side Note: Albin's branding in the 1980's was very inconsistent as to how the placed the four-pointed star in the "A". I came across a number of versions in their literature and various documents.

Here is an image of how mine turned out.
