I got LOTS leftover.

Oh, come see my shop. It LOOKS like hoarding, but it isn't if you think you might use it one day. Am I right?

To use what you have got you have to remember what you have. Occasionally I sort through my collection of junque a never cease to be amazed at what I keep finding. Every time it's a new adventure!

That looks good!

I had to peer closely at our hull liner to see that there aren’t any holes at all! Printed on!! Galley looks great too, I am not a fan of the the wood grain Formica top either and will gladly get rid of ours too when the time comes.

Oh, you guys with the SUPER super DeLuxe model have the faux wood grain...think late 70s Dodge Aspen station wagon...suhweet! Mine is mottled blue like somebody sneezed on the printer or however formica is made.

And...

Galley is done!
20200825_183446.jpg
OK, so not 100% done (no plumbing yet) but let's say 95% maybe?

Good enough for now, or until I put my plumbing hat on.

At what point does your wife start comparing your galley with her kitchen? Nice job.

Tell me how to get that step up into the main cabin to stop squeaking. It kicks in very, very around 1600 rpm. I've upsized the screws, tightened the supports beneath, and then waxed the edges with chain lube in a can. Everything short of solid gluing them or cutting them with a quarter inch clearance all around. Still squeaks. Thinking of pouring concrete.

My main squeeker is the floor plate infront of the galley. I bonded wool felt on mine to kill it. Silicone lube spray is used in cars a lot but that can give you issues later if you ate painting. Silicone creeps and is near impossible to remove with solvent

For the step, I upgraded the cleats to 1x2 and used 1/4" hardware. The 1x1 cleats and thin hardware just looked too lightweight. I'll have to get back to you on the squeak factor at speed.

And, yes, my wife is already looking at a kitchen remodel project for me.

Been "Playing with Plumbing"...

The Rule IL 500 appears to be THE pump for the A25 keel. It fits, barely but fine.

No "dip stick" mount necessary (nor practical). The hose alone is sufficient to secure the pump in place (provided you secure the hose, itself).

I've also decided to nix the Whale Guzzler manual pump idea. Not much real estate in the keel for a dedicated second hose with strainer and I'm not thrilled about installing another thru hull for overboard discharge..

Instead, I'm going with one of my old favorites: A Groco Safety Seacock Converter (SSC). It replaces the pipe to hose barb on top of the raw water seacock. It has a port on the side that, when open, allows high bilge water to be drawn by the raw water pump on the engine. For that "last resort" pump in an emergency.

There is also a garden hose adapter for the port that allows for a remote suction location or for drawing fresh water for flushing or antifreeze during winterization.

And all new Marelon thru hulls above the waterline.

Ha ha! I can relate to that. Defender is one of my favorite supply sources too. You'll have an awesome boat when finished. The joinery must look like it just rolled out of the factory.

Defender is awesome. They have EVERYTHING! I've been there a couple times. They are only a 1-1/2 hour ferry ride from NY to CT away, practically in Tribologist's back yard. I'm jealous!

Thanks for the compliment, DA. Gotta say, but you were the second person to comment on the woodwork yesterday...

I kidnapped my 19 year old son to help me with the VHF antenna mount. When done, I asked him if he'd seen the cabin lately? (I knew he hadn't). He took a look around and spoke those words that warm a father's heart:

"So... You're done now?"

Makes being a father worth every second!
