New name on!

Post by Jeremyvmd »

So today was the de-naming and renaming ceremonies for the Viking. She’s now officially “knot crazy”. Also had the new tender out for the first time with the epropulsion spirit 3hp outboard. Gotta say it’s the perfect tender setup. Love the tacakat tender, good size, super light weight (less that 70lbs by a good margin for the 300 size) and handled the chop great. Had spray rails on it so very dry despite the 1ft chop abd running it flat out. With two people onboard (admittedly one was very light) she planed at half throttle, with just me (200lbs) at 1/3 throttle. Giving me 2.5hrs and 3.75hrs of run time respectively. Flat out she skipped on the waves even with “just” 3hp. 1.5hr run time at full throttle. At dead idle 9 hours! Decided to snap some glamor shots despite the name not being on till we got back to dock

All looks great. Very cool dinghy. I just picked up the Spirit 1.0+ as well. It's quite stealth! I keep the motor in the engine room. So convenient.

Wow, gorgeous, Jeremy! I like the dinghy, too! What a coincidence that you and Rob bought the same outboard. Where did you buy it and what made you choose this motor over, say, Torqeedo?

Thank you very much. I’m super happy with all three

I bought it online as they were sold out locally. It has a much better range, weighs less, better warranty, and the battery floats when not attached to the motor which is nice. The power connection to the motor from the battery is also metal on the epropulsion rather than plastic as on the torqueedo. In addition from everything I read the epropulsion is quieter. Only benefit IMO is that the torq. Uses gps to give you speed and range. But I didn’t think that it was that useful.

Bought mine online too. Cecilia at Electric Marina in FL. It was dropped shipped from Mac Boring in NJ. They are the US distributor. I read every review and watched every video I could find. Jeremy noted key benefits.
