Dropped Rudder

Hi my name is Gman52 I have a 1996 28te she recently dropped her rudder about 2 inches need to know about what is involved with repairing it and about what kind of costs this will incur . Anyone that can help me would be greatly appreciated Thanks :( :(

No idea, but open the aft inspection hatch and shoot a couple of pictures of the shaft, stuffing box and the bracket holding the shaft in place.
Post the pictures right here and hopefully it should be easy to tell what went wrong.

This might be obvious, Gman, but have you hauled the boat yet? If I had any doubt as to whether the rudder was secure, that would be my first step.

I'd be concerned as well and question if you still have the rudder shoe that attaches to the skeg bar and supports the rudder ..

You need to get in the water to take a look ASAP.
