Calling all beige topside owners…..

Post by Tree »

Evening chaps.

I’ve just booked FP2 in for vinyl wrapping next year and want to get some ideas for colours.

So if you have beige topsides and a hull colour that isn’t green - please post some pictures!

I’m currently set on this colour but sometimes pictures don’t really show if the topside is beige of oyster.

Beige topside owner here. Turtle Express hull was awlgripped by previous owner in AwlGrip Navy Blue G 5001. Like the gray color though, very modern.

The blue looks good but your topsides really do look like oyster in the pictures.

Ah, could be. None of the documentation that came with the boat listed the topside color. Looked beige-ish to me :)

Topside gelcoat offerings as termed by Albin at that time:

1).Oyster
2). Mexican Sand
3). White

Ken Hilton at Standish Boat Yard can tune you in on what paints best match the Albin gelcoat colors.

Here's a picture of my 2002 - 28TE: Blue gelcoat hull with Oyster gelcoat topside:

Good shout Kevin. I’ll give Ken a call on Monday. Mine must be Mexican sand but it’s faded over time so much lighter now. I’m thinking a taupe hull which will be a dramatic change from green but I want something to lift FP2 and give her a modern edge.

I think the new owners of Dog Daze are on one or both of the Albin Facebook groups, so you might be able to reach them there. The previous owner may still kick around there, too. Also, Ken Hilton may know the boat since its home port is Newport.

I really like those taupe and gray hulls.

I will keep my tub plain Oyster, kicked around the idea of painting the hull Navy Blue, but got crazy estimates from $12 to $20K.

I like it, Lee. Looks sharp and "modern". Who makes the "Ice Grey"?

I'm toying with "Jet Black", but just don't yet have the courage!

That’s why I’m going with the vinyl wrap Kevin. It’s a quarter of the price of awlgrip with a ten year life. If I don’t like it - I’ll have it removed.

I’ll be using oracal vinyl. Www.orafol.com

Love the ice gray! We have painted the boot stripe and the gunwale stripe on our A25 with Bilgekote Gray. Ice Gray sounds much more sophisticated.

I like the ice gray, Lee. Seems like vinyl wrap has come a long way, 10-year warranty and all. Does the warranty cover labor or just the material. Sorry, had to ask. :)

An original white hull (lucky me) is always classic as well as lowest maintenance cost, but I do ogle these sleek new grays and taupes.
