Swim step dive ladder for 2007 28 Tournament express

Post by dougleonard »

Does anyone know the brand or manufacturer of the dive ladder that fits under the swim step on the Albin 28. Mine needs to be replaced. Thanks, Doug

Windline under mount would have been the ticket, but I do not believe that it is still available .. here is a link to a previous discussion.

Doug, does your ladder need to be replaced because it's mangled? Or does it just not operate smoothly? A few squirts of WD40 at every sleeve at the beginning of the season work wonders. It works so well that I was able to take credit for fixing it.

Good job Nancy and good advice. I keep ours working pretty much in the same manner, but being in the salt it gets cleaned with Collinate metal polish and sprayed with CorrosionX at spring commissioning and again at fall decommissioning. My current ladder was installed when I first commissioned spring of '14 and today it slides in and out as if new.

I think you can fix most anything on a boat with WD40, duct tape, and/or Vienna sausage. 8)

Speaking of swim ladders: On the long list of “Things To Do” a substantial swim ladder upgrade is on the menu:
Has anybody installed and or fabricated a heavy duty ladder?
This one looks promising, but even a 2-piece 3 or 4 step ladder may work.
(Is the swim platform solid or sandwich?)

This was the swim/dive ladder on previous boat, I sure miss it: Oversized, sturdy and easy to board.

Pretty sure you that you can still source the ladder. Mine is a Windline UP-3. I ended up needing some replacement clips for one of the steps. Here's one supplier.

I installed a top mounted heavy duty ladder. Can’t figure out how to paste photo in.

,
When I bought my 28, I changed out the ladder with a top mounted ladder, six step heavy duty. There was no way I try wrestling with the stock ladder. Having the ladder on top has not caused any issues.

Looks like this is the picture you are trying to post?

I agree with having a big sturdy ladder, but I am planning to install it all the way over to Starboard on the platform: Mounting a ladder in the middle would cramp my style, discovered on a Bahamas trip 2 years ago: The swim platform is great for laying down on, with a Vodka/Tonic after a swim, gives me a distinct James Bond feeling, hence no ladder in the middle.

Bought fresh lobster from the native fishermen during the same Bahamas trip, it goes good with Vodka/Tonic:
