Bow pulpit closeout panel repair advice

I would like advice on repair of the close out panel on the bow pulpit. I removed the current panel. It appears to be made from a HDPE cutting board. It was attached with four vertical screws in the center. A previous panel looks like it was attached with small screws around the perimeter. A search on the AOG site mentioned a wood panel, possibly the OEM design. I plan to replace the existing panel with the original design and make it water tight (unless there's a more robust design). Any advice is appreciated. Images of the current panel are attached.

Those perimeter screws are likely the aluminum trim that you are probably missing.... Based on the damage in your 3rd pic that trim pc may have been damaged beyond repair and scrapped

Your bottom Starboard panel is likely the OEM piece as that is the material that was used by Albin and Rob's comments about the aluminum L - Channel and screws is right on the money.
