Peninsular The Beast parts availability?

Post by Captain Starbucks »

Hi all,

An Albin 31 has come up for sale just a few miles from my house. My initial excitement to read the ad was quickly diminished when I saw the engines the boat has. Reading the Unique Diesel website (which appears to be the current parts mfr of the engines) they say there are currently no parts available but may be in the future. Anyone have any info on this?

Thanks in advance,

Rob

Waiting to see if someone buys udmarine.com
You can find some parts if you have the part number, ebay has some.
Here is another: https://www.boatownersworld.com/Arco-In ... _4167.html
There is a manual in the members section that has a parts breakdown of the engine

Thank you for the response. The boat in my mind only has a value of a 25 year old hull that needs a double tier 3 engine replacement. In Washington, you can rebuild engines (if parts are available) and reinstall. But if you replace, they must meet current emissions requirements. So this boat at $150k, requires over $100k in immediate maintenence to make it worth $125k. Hard pass.

The latest from udmarine.com:

Posting 9/2/2022

Through July and August applications were received by other businesses interested in either an exclusive distributorship or taking on the Peninsular Product line through an asset acquisition.

At this time the application process is complete and we are awaiting decisions from those that applied and expressed interest. While we had hoped that the framework for the new direction would be known, it's still incomplete. In an effort to maximize the intent from the original offering a brief extension for a decision from the applicants will be entertained throughout the first week of September. After which a direction will be decided based on available options.

Future availability of Peninsular components will be published on September 9th with a timeline of availability for component purchase based on direction taken.

Thank you for your interest in Peninsular components.

The latest from udmarine.com

Posting 9/9/2022
During the month of May operations were halted on the UDMarine.com website to reconcile inventory towards making the business division available to other businesses for either an exclusive distributorship or sale of the division. While there was a lot of interest, no commitments occurred during an ample applications phase. Throughout this process Unique Diesel was seeking a new owner for the division because of a loss of interest in dealing with marine customer posturing. Without the necessary agreement for a new representative of the brand or a change in ownership the product line was slated for discontinuation due to Unique Diesel’s desire to separate from marine.

While there were two options being considered for the future of the division, another option did materialize that will enable the resumption of parts-only support for the legacy platform. A local contractor has been awarded a probationary agreement for the remainder of the year to perform operations for the business division. The contractor will operate the division’s warehouse, order fulfillment and all customer service; reducing the business owner’s involvement to executive operations only. Previous full-service operations will immediately transition to a parts-only service. Technical support (paid or otherwise), and parts selection services will be discontinued as the contractor cannot fulfill this task by experience and agreement. More details including the limitations will be available in the About section of the website when the store is available.

Resumption of available components for sale will occur on or before September 16th 2022 under the new contractor’s role. Appearance and website functionality will be nearly the same as before.
