Replacing the fuel tank???

Post by Mike Monte »

My 2001 28TE has a leak in the fuel tank....
It needs replacing.
Has anyone here (who owns a 28TE) ever replaced their fuel tank?

Hi Mike --
The forum search function works pretty well, but sometimes Google works better. I googled "albin 28te fuel tank replacement", and came up with this thread: viewtopic.php?t=10824

I just went thru that this summer. Luthers welding the original manufacturer was so easy to deal with and they are in your neighborhood. look them up you wont be disapointed.

I'm doing it now. Just had one made locally with a bottom sump and pickup. Figuring out the best way to get the old one out in the next few weeks. Nothing like finding diesel in the bilge...

Not a terrible job. your gonna have to cut a wedge out of the stringer to remove and replace tank. keep the wedge and glass it back in.
