Last year we had a cookout on "The Deck" at Essex on Saturday night. Friday boats are still wandering in and Sunday some make early departures. Saturday would be the "one day" to attend. You would just need to reserve with the marina accordingly.

Hey Ric,

It seems that the Rendezvous and the clambake at our club are both on the same weekend. Since it's making me crazy that I haven't been to one since helping to set up the first AOG get together in Block I'm determined to at least visit briefly. Right now I'm thinking about taking Thursday and Friday off and heading up to Essex Thursday evening, staying Friday and departing early enough on Saturday to attend the Clambake. Also trying to get someone to make the trip with me, but for now it's just me.

Any idea how many folks might be around on Friday?

Hope to see some of you there!

Doug,
Last year we had quite a few boats in on Friday (and some even sooner) but more came in on Saturday. When you say leaving early Saturday do you mean crack of dawn or staying until noon checkout or so. Boats came in all different times but if you are there from Thurs to Sat AM you'll get to meet several members. Unless Mother Nature decides otherwise, I plan to arrive Thursday as well and should be running with Matt (mhanna) & Janet on Doghouse.
Hope you can swing it...

My wife would laugh at the "Crack of dawn"! I operate a bit more on a "Crack of Noon" schedule!

I'm going to watch the timing on the ride up and time it to arrive back in Norwalk by 5:00. With luck I'll have lunch in Essex and then head home. I really want to make it to the rendezvous this year and knowing some of you will be there Thursday just helps solidify my plans!

Karen & I are planning on being there Thursday afternoon also, we are taking advantage of the pay for 3 get one free deal, so we'll be there, Thur, Fri, Sat, Sun night then returning to Wickford on Monday. Karen has class in Groton Friday & Monday and will be arriving by land, which means we will have the van available if needed. We are also planning on looking at a couple of trawlers at Wilde Yachts while we are there.

Ric,
If you are looking at the Nordic Tugs at Wilde Yachts, I hope you will also look at PDQ 34 power catamarans wherever you can find one. For a small cruising boat I think they are about ideal -- easy cruise at 14 knots burning just 4-5 gph, shallow draft (under 3') with protected running gear for FL/Bahamas, widely-spaced twin diesels for super maneuverability in tight quarters, inside and bridge steering for all weather conditions, great dinghy-handling system, and two well-separated staterooms. I follow a couple of boat blogs written by owners of PDQ's and they take them everywhere and think they are great boats.
I am also a big fan of an oddball boat called the Island Pilot -- 39 feet with twin diesel outdrives or pod drives. Fast, really comfortable, efficient, there are a couple of Island Pilots on the resale market for attractive prices.

Linda and I made reservations for the Rendezvous and look forward to it.

Please add "Paumanok" to the Rendezvous list. We will be traveling beginning July 1to the Boston area and Cape but can join the Albin family on the return to CT. I will call the marina tomorrow to find out if there is room for one more.

"Sonny III" will be arriving on Thursday the 22nd, staying Friday and departing on Saturday. Right now it looks like I'll be flying solo but we'll see if that changes as the date gets closer.

Really looking forward to reconnecting with some of the original AOGers and meeting some new ones.

I contacted EIM and there appears to be plenty of space for more Albins. Please add Ron and Marcy Klattenberg to the list of attendees. I made a reservation arriving on the 23rd and leaving the 25th. Looking forward to meeting all the bloggers at the Rendezvous. See everyone then.
