Is all exterior wood including rail teak?

Post by te102056 »

I just purchased a 1980 43' trawler. The railing doesn't look the same as other wood. Is everything teak?
Thanks

To the best of my knowledge all of the classic trawler yards used teak everywhere, with the exception of an occasional piece of mohonagy scattered about. If the railing is original it could possibly teak that was grown in another region from the other that was used. Minerals and acids in the soil can greatly effect to look of finished lumber.
